Trip Home - Out-take #1

My computer has lost its virginity! Or so I was informed. And if your reading this your computer isn't a virgin either - SO THERE!!!

But seriously, I am working on some web stuff for my mom who hasnt updated her website in 8 years, and in the process of trying to get files of her current work, I was lectured on how my computer wasnt a virgin and all his (her printer's) were, so anything that touched my computer was not allowed to touch his. This from a man that stored each of her 500 images on seperate cds, and made me take 3 days copying them 1 by 1 so that i had a searchable database (not to mention much less volume than 500 cds to carry back to germany.
I think the two strangest inquiries ever made of me were
(1) Whether I would be willing to be another person and take a course for them (with a generous offer of financial compensation and a free trip to Europe)
(2) Whether I would get birth control pills for someone else.

See ... I can sometimes say no.

Of course, if my grammy had actually asked me to assist with Euthanasia, that probably would have ranked up there as well.

So I came to the conclusion this week, the first week back in classes, that philosophers are shitty people. What am I to study now?

I was a good girl this evening. I called my family (well my grandmother and my Canadian uncle.) Its probably the first time I have called since January and it was a bit overdue. I was surprised that my uncle hadn't heard about Sandra D. retiring. What are the states coming to? I really need to start looking for alternatives to the states for when I finish here in OS.

Free?

I woke up this morning and realized I have no more pressure from the university this semester. I am free. No more presentations, and no exams. Im not quite sure what to do with myself. I guess I should start by sending out a mass email to friends and family that I have written in over a year. In conclusion, there does seem to be stuff to be done, but none of it is urgent. a nice feeling, as long as it doesnt last to long.

Vacation Ideas

Anybody have any tips on where I should take a vacation to this summer. The timeslot is August. Perhaps I will just throw all the ideas in a bag and draw one. So far the suggestions have been that I stay and clean someones kitchen, and an 8 week biketour (for which my current blue cruiser wouldnt last more than a day).

Virginia Woolf
You are Virginia Woolf! You were openly bisexual
and had public affairs, but you never liked
sex. You wrote a seminal feminist work, long
before feminists knew that they were feminists.
In this vein, you never really considered
yourself a feminist. You were a tragic figure,
but a damn genius.

Which Western feminist icon are you?
